In an effort to cut carbon emissions by up to 50% by 2030, Chipotle has revealed their all-new electric restaurant design which incorporates both wind and solar power. The new design also incorporates all-electric systems and equipment, biodegradable straws, cutlery, bowls and cups, recycled artwork, electric vehicle charging points and energy management systems, among various other eco-friendly upgrades. The new upgrades will eventually roll out to over 7,000 locations, with more than 100 planned for 2024. However, that's not all.
The company is also planning to expand it's vegan options alongside plans to source more local produce for its sites. This should give customers more options to choose from, as well as being able to charge their electric cars at restaurant locations. So far, the new design has been introduced in Florida, Virginia, and Gloucester. However, another store is set to open in Castle Rock, Colorado very soon.
Laurie Schalow, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Chipotle, made the following statement: "With our aggressive development goal in North America, we hold ourselves accountable to reduce the environmental impact of our restaurants. We are aiming to incorporate some elements of our responsible restaurant design into many of our new restaurant openings going forward."
Asides upgrading their fast-food restaurants, Chipotle have also donated over $100,000 in school supplies to help children in education who need it most. This is just one example of the many good deeds that the company has done throughout the years.
